Position Summary
Reporting to the Building Manager, the Plumber will work shifts
to perform preventative maintenance work on all plumbing related
equipment. Under direction, performs assigned plumbing duties
throughout all Mala Properties sites according to policies,
procedures, legislated codes and regulations, to support a functional
reliable, safe and comfortable building environment.

- Full-Time position.
- Regular buisiness hours; however must be available to work
outside of regular hours upon critical situations.
Responsibilities
- Inspect plumbing, steam fitting, gas fitting, welding, soldering,
sprinkler systems, fire equipment, pumps and valves.
- Preventative maintenance work on all plumbing related equipment.
- Trouble shoot equipment to locate problems and repair.
- Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings
and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, medical
gas and drainage systems.
- Completes maintenance records and work orders.
- Observes all safety regulations and practices.
- Observes all applicable regulations made under the Provincial
and Federal statues and Municipal by-laws.
- All plumbing work including new installations and alterations.
- All repair work to hot and cold water lines, sanitary storm
sewers and drainage problems.
- Maintains overhauls and repairs steam lines, traps, heating
systems, sterilizers and other related equipment.
- Update documentation for plumbing and steam services, including
charts and valve tags.
- Interfaces with the Crew Chief and other Mala Properties
staff in the delivery of service requests to meet contract
service levels.
- Set up and removal furniture as necessary
- Manages and maintains inventory of supplies and tools to
enable efficient service delivery.
- Maintain a clean workspace at all times.
- Any other special projects and duties judged necessary to
the success of the property operations.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Quebec Plumbing Licence or Inter Provincial Licence// Valid
Quebec Plumber Licence.
- Able to read and update blue prints. Familiar with required
tools for trade.
- Able to function under pressure of emergency situations.
- Able to conduct heavy physical lifting, frequent prolonged
standing/walking, pushing/pulling, or moving/lifting heavy
equipment/supplies, and ladder work.
- Knowledge of WHMIS an asset.
- Strong communication skills in English and French are an
asset, both verbal and written.
- Legislated safety requirements, codes, standards and regulations
training will be provided.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with
minimal supervision.
- Availability to conduct additional work outside of regular
business hours is preferred.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Experience with basic plumbing repairs would be an asset.
